This book was fantastic. I don't read many detective novels on the basis that most of them are the same, the detective has baggage that fuels their work blah blah blah. This book is different because there is no emotional ties to the case. Its the case and the pursuit of the truth and that's it. DS Cross is a fantastic character, particular in his ways but comforting because he would never betray the reader's trust.
The murder itself kept unwinding throughout the book at a good pace. I liked that while I did solve the case with around 70 pages left, I really didn't because I had only figured out what our author wanted me to figure out.
I honestly read this book in a very short period of time and I am so beyond pumped that there are 7 more books in this series.
5 stars for DS Cross' unwillingness to bag a guy until ALL the facts are revealed.
